“In America, we believe that anyone willing to work hard and take risks can get their good idea off the ground and into the marketplace.
It is a notion that has made our Nation bold and bright, and the best place to do business for generations — from small-town storefronts to pioneering startups that keep our country on the cutting edge.
This week, we celebrate America’s entrepreneurial spirit, and we recommit to helping our small businesses get ahead.”- President Barack Obama
We agree! So let’s support the policies that give small businesses the opportunity to grow and flourish.
One way is to defeat HR 684 “Marketplace Fairness Act of 2013.
Our sources say ” the bill would tax commerce between the states, something that has been exempt (except for certain circumstances) since the Constitution was ratified.
The bill is currently in the House, where it is known as HR 684 “Marketplace Fairness Act of 2013.”
The bill’s supporters say that it would “level the playing field” between “bricks and mortar” stores, which collect local sales taxes.
It would also affect sellers that deliver across state lines without collecting sales taxes.
In reality, it would be a massive tax increase and would burden businesses, large and small alike, with huge compliance costs.”
This would affect internet businesses as well.
The entrepreneurial spirit is alive and well in the U.S.
Let’s encourage our policy makers to allow the customer to level the playing field.
Our small business owners are national heroes. Thank you all for enriching our lives.
How will you celebrate Small Business Week this week?
